The zine shop
The first retail version of Lawn Gnome lived inside Firehouse Gallery. Handmade books, poetry, visual art, performance, and DIY culture shared the same ecosystem. This was the bridge between a self-publishing project and a public creative space.
The first bookstore
A successful Kickstarter helped open the first dedicated Lawn Gnome bookstore in a historic Roosevelt Row house. The shop became known for books, chapbooks, coffee, open mics, poetry slams, storytelling, comedy, live music, workshops, festivals, and a backyard stage.

Lawn Gnome operated another shop near Central Avenue and Camelback Road. This chapter is still being reconstructed from old site files, photographs, event calendars, and community memories.
No permanent address
After the first Roosevelt Row bookstore closed, Lawn Gnome continued through pop-ups and events at many venues. The organization became portable: books, microphones, performers, and audiences moved wherever space was available.
Home again
Lawn Gnome returned to Roosevelt Row in another historic house at 912 N. 5th Street shortly before the pandemic. The final public chapter carried the project through a radically changed cultural and economic landscape.
Street photographs, interior shots, floor plans, flyers, menus, calendars, and firsthand memories can be attached to each location as they are recovered.
